Red Bull Soap Box Racer
10.25.08

Team Wahooligans
A record breaking 25,000 spectators crowded Red Rocks Park today for Red Bull Soapbox Race's Colorado debut, and more than 25,000 others arrived after the park had reached capacity. Forty three teams of colorful characters, from the likes of cross dressing prom queens to the Wicked Witch of the West, took to the track in hopes of non motorized, raceway glory.
This has been a great teambuilding experience for myself and the other general managers who are involved, says Igor Nemerzhitskiy, crew member and general manager of Wahoo's Hampden, who has spent long hours in the office garage constructing the cart from an old lawnmower, bicycle tires, tons of Styrofoam, and a few 2x4s, with the Wahoo's logo as the inspiration behind the design.

What can I say, my trip to X Games 14 was way better than I ever could have imagined! Everyone from Metal Mulisha and ESP Guitars was so friendly, and excited to show us around. Hanging out in the pits with the Metal Mulisha team was awesome. Amidst all the chaos of getting ready to compete and adoring fans screaming for autographs, the riders all found time to take pictures and hang out with me. They really are great guys with a crazy passion for this intense sport. Wahoo’s Fish Tacos came and served up some delicious fish and chicken tacos for lunch. I can’t wait to show off my candy red ESP Guitar signed by the Metal Mulisha team! I just want to THANK Metal Mulisha, ESP Guitars, and Wahoo’s Fish Tacos for my KICK ASS trip to the X Games 14.
Much Love, Lisa

US Open of Surfing
07.27.08

Wahoo's served our Corona Extra friends with tacos on the beach while they watched some great surfing from the top pros around the world.

Nathaniel Curran didn't wait for conditions to improve Sunday at the Honda U.S. Open of Surfing. He grabbed an early lead in the two-man final and held on to defeat Frenchman Tim Boal, 11.66-10.70, in sparse two to three foot surf alongside the Huntington Beach pier.

The victory earned Curran 15,000 and moved him from No. 4 in the World Qualifying Series standings to No. 1. The top 16 at the end of the season qualify for the World Championship Tour, of which Curran's brother, Timmy, was a longtime member. Signal Snowboards Dream It. Build It. Ride It. Day
07.23.08

Signal Snowboards hosted an open house of sorts and invited everyone into their factory aka “The Lodge” to show everyone what they’re up to.

They’re cranking out boards these days and according to Signal co-founder and owner Dave Lee, they can barely keep up with the demand.

Dave was most hyped on their new testing facility out back. Recently they had a buddy of theirs build them a mini shred slope. And today they hosed it down with a couple hundred bucks worth of ice and had themselves a little rail jam.

A bunch of the Signal team riders were on hand to wow the crowd that was feasting on Wahoo’s fish tacos and ice cream in the relative comfort of their street clothes.

Heads wandered in and out of the factory all day. Signal’s board builders were giving tours to Transworld Magazine, Archies Ice Cream, Rockstar Energy, Signal buyers and to anyone interested.

Vans Warped Tour Starts in Pomona!
06.20.08

Wahoo's served it up to all the crew before the first date of the Warped Tour at the Pomona Fairplex.

With a heavy helping of highly political bands as well as acts offering old fashioned entertainment, the summer event still seems to epitomize American freedom and creativity. This equilibrium is probably one of the reasons why the tour has maintained its wide appeal and attracted such a large number of musical acts, which marked its 14th year!

In Boys 12/under, Ian Gentil bested Koa Smith in a neck and neck Hawaiian showdown and, never outdone, Kauai's Nage Melamed delivered the goods among female competitors, showing textbook technique with a series of open face carves, wide bottom turns, and her silky-smooth wave presence.
